Our mission is to provide UMass Boston students with worldwide study abroad opportunities and to make it possible for our students to learn, explore, and experience studying abroad.

Study Abroad staff can help you find out what program is best for you academically and personally, and guide and support you through the entire application process and beyond.

Meet our 2017 Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholars!

UMass Boston student Kenneth Horm, pictured above, received the Gilman International Scholarship to study through CIEE at Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan in the summer of 2017. He also received funding through the Beacon Student Success Fellowship at UMass Boston and the CIEE Global Access Initiative (GAIN) Grant. It was Kenneth's first international experience. He told us it was one of the best experiences of his life, and now plans to take his brother back to Japan next summer!

UMass Boston student Wyndham Juneau received the Gilman International Scholarship to study on exchange for the fall 2017 semester in the Netherlands at Utrecht University. Wyndham is a history major who plans on a future in politics.

UMass Boston student Vijay Rodriguez received the Gilman International Scholarship for the fall 2017 semester to study in Hyderabad, India. Vijay is studying through AIFS for his semester in India. He plans to one day be an anthropologist with a focus on South Asia.

Students participating in reciprocal exchange programs at a partner university, pay UMass Boston tuition and fees to attend the host institution abroad. Students can also study abroad worldwide with the approved study abroad providers. We look forward assisting you!
